You may think I am being dramatic...but this sh#t happened to ME this month!!
EXPLODING GLASS BAKEWARE.
You know those glass Pyrex casserole dishes that you throw in the oven? Yeh, they are shattering on dining room tables. And the number is on the rise! Do we need to wear protective earwear while cooking now? Wtf.
It happened to me when I put a dish in the sink & it just shattered. I almost pooped my pants.
Here's what the pros say to do while baking with the potential shrapnel, to avoid any Christmas Day trips to the ER:
- Always place hot glass bakeware on a dry, cloth potholder or towel. Never place hot glass bakeware on top of the stove, on a metal trivet, on a damp towel, directly on a counter or in a sink.
- Never put glass bakeware directly on a burner or under a broiler.
- Always allow the oven to fully preheat before placing the glass bakeware in the oven.
- Always cover the bottom of the dish with liquid before cooking meat or vegetables.
