New Judge Appointed In Zimmerman Case

Sanford, Fla.-(970 WFLA)-The 18th Judicial Circuit Court has announced that Administrative Judge Debra Nelson has been assigned to the George Zimmerman case, replacing Judge Kenneth Lester.

The replacement comes after the Fifth District Court of Appeal ruled in favor of Zimmerman that Judge Lester was biased in the case against Zimmerman, who is charged with the second degree murder of Trayvon Martin.

Judge Nelson is a graduate of the University of South Florida in Tampa and has been serving on the bench in the 18th Judicial Circuit since 1999.
