TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - We should know sometime Tuesday if Tampa Bay Lightning Owner Jeff Vinik will be the new owner of the Channelside complex in downtown Tampa

There's a bankruptcy court hearing in Delaware Tuesday on Vinik's $7 million dollar bid, which was the winning bid during a recent bankruptcy court auction.

Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn believes the Vinik bid will get the nod.

“I think the bankruptcy courts would like to dispose of this and get it off their books. I think Jeff’s the right guy to do it. And we hope they will agree with that and we can start fixing what needs to be fixed,” Buckhorn said.

The judge will hear a challenge to the Vinik bid today by another bidder--Liberty Channelside, LLC. It claims Vinik was in cahoots with PortTampaBay, which owns the land underneath Channelside.
